Jessika, QA
Former Sign Language Interpreter and Current ASL Instructor

Jessika first came to sign language as a child. She grew up in a small town in Northwest Georgia that was close to the Georgia School for the Deaf. As an elementary student, Jessika’s interest was piqued by another student who was deaf and communicated using American Sign Language.

As an adult, Jessika attended Georgia Perimeter College where she majored in Sign Language Interpreting. While attending classes she was hired by a local interpreter to baby sit for her daughter.  Jessika used sign language with the baby everyday. Jessica was ecstatic the first time the baby used sign language with her. This began her love of using sign language with babies.

Since that time, Jessika has worked with other children using sign language for early communicate.  Among Jessica's other awards and accolades, she recieved a superior rating on the Sign Communication Proficiency Interview (SCPI) during her last year in college.  When Jessica graduated from the Interpreting Training Program at Georgia Perimeter College, she immediately received a QA with the state of Georgia to work as a sign language  interpreter.

In January 2007, Jessica was honored to be accepted as a new presenter with the Sign2Me network. After becoming a presenter, Jessica immediately passed the test to become Certified Level 1 with Sign2Me.  Since that time, she has been spreading the word about the effectiveness of sign language for babies and anyone else who are unable to use verbal language to communicate. Jessica’s company, The Sign Language Academy specializes in teaching sign language to babies, toddlers, children, adults, differently-abled individuals and the elderly.

When Jessika is not working as a sign language interpreter or sign langauge instructor, she is a singer.  Our very own Jessika is currently working on a CD of childrens songs in both English and American Sign Language.  You can check out her music website:

Rachel

Rachel also learned sign language as a child.  When her brother was little he had difficulty speaking. On one of his visits to the speech therapist, Rachel encountered a deaf child and was intrigued. She immediately learned to say hello and that was the beginning of a life time of learning. As the daughter of an award-winning and gifted educator, Rachel is instrumental in developing the curriculum for our students.

When Rachel is not working as a sign language interpreter or curriculum specialist, she owns Purrfect Pawsitting.  Purrfect Pawsitting is indeed the best pet sitters in Pheonix, Paradise Valley and Scottsdale, AZ Please feel free to visit her website:
